DUKE RIM LUCKY JACK SLS3 6TERS*
The Lucky Jack by DUKE is a very light and broad rim for cross country and marathon use. Weighing 330g the weight is surprisingly low. Great value have the dimensions of the rim. With 30mm inside the rim provides not only an excellent lateral stiffness, but also the tire optimum support width. Also at low air pressure, the driver (in) no spongy driving feel, as the tires can snap off bad side. Grip and comfort of the tire increase remarkably! Of course, the rim can be driven with sealing Tubeless “milk”. The wheels are provided with an asymmetrical rim profile (as robust as a symmetrical profile), which requires a more uniform pitch angle of the spokes. This optimization of the spoke angle brings a number of advantages. The spoke tension on both sides can be better matched to one another, what is the shelf life of the spokes and the entire impeller conducive. The normally directional lateral stiffness is also adjusted so that the wheel appear rigid in itself. The height of the rim edge for 2015 is reduced by 1mm to further limit any risk of contact with the ground. Lateral stiffness improved by 40% compared to the first version. Resistant to impacts even on the most brittle ground: Absorption of impact energy improved by more than 50% compared to the previous model. Anti-burp system: the heel of the tire is held in position whatever its pressure, no risk of “unseating”. For the rim a Rider.

MTB rims profiles are differentiated as we do not ask the rims the same qualities while riding :
A front wheel must give grip, be light, stiff and handy.
A rear wheel must be more comfortable, tronger and offer more efficiency.
Thus the front and rear wheels have different profiles and lay-ups.
In collaboration with Julien Absalon, the 6TERS front and rear profiles complement each other for a greater efficiency in the trails.
Many of you are aware of different needs because you are already using different section tires at front and rear wheel.
The Duke 6TERS* concept offers a wider front rim than the rear rim for more grip and stiffness. Its weight is optimized for robustness.
The rear profile is reworked with a reduced section, with a new carbon fiber layer to improve compliance and increase the impact resistance, the constraints being much more important on the back wheel. For the 3rd SLS version we now offer 3 rim widths 26, 28 and 30mm between hooks.
SLS3 Factory Process.
All our carbon MTB rims now benefit from the manufacturing process tested and approved by the Super Light Series, which offers a 10% gain in rim’s weight compared to the SLS2.
This manufacturing process goes even further today as it is now made under dust-free laboratory and no longer requires sanding nor painting.
SLS3 products have an excellent aesthetic appearance, right out of the mold.
As no longer painted, the rims can not be scratched.
Impact resistance is not left out, since it is also improved compared to the previous version.
SLS3 rims are built from UD carbon fiber.

Rim’s sidewalls are thickened to prevent cut of tires during impacts. (*6TERS = sisters = sœurs)

 

TECHNOLOGY
